The Osage Country of southwest
Missouri is rich in history and legend. Ancestral hunting ground of
Osage Indians, the region is laced with rivers that served as
"highways" for European explorers.
The Osage
River also was once part of the storied Santa Fe Trail. As settlers
moved in, the area was wracked by regional feuds, the Civil War, and
the Jesse James and Cole Younger outlaw gangs.
Today, the wild times
over, the Osage Lakes Region is a modern progressive area offering
excellent sports and recreation, relaxed country living, prosperous
farming, and idyllic retirement.
Defined by three superb
man-made lakes; Pomme
de Terre, Stockton, and Truman, the Osage Lakes
Region is unsurpassed in the Midwest for a
"constant variety" of water
sports.
